COURSE OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES

Safety One now offers NWSA practical evaluations! Save time and complete your NWSA TTT1 skills evaluation with Safety One after completing your Tower Climber Safety & Rescue Course! Established in 2015, The National Wireless Safety Alliance was conceived as a telecommunications worker certification association. Aimed at providing a consistent level of skill across the industry, the Telecommunications Tower Technician 1, 2 and future specialty programs are intended to supplement your Tower Climber Safety & Rescue training program. The NWSA has broadly defined several levels of Telecommunications Crews including: Telecommunications Tower Technician 1 & 2, Several specialties, and Foreman. Each level has a set number of skills and scope of responsibilities. Topics addressed include: general construction activities, tower system installation, modification, maintenance, and inspection of support structures used in telecommunications. Safety One is committed to providing fair and objective evaluators who are committed to upholding the standards set forth by NWSA

AUDIENCE

Individuals who work on towers or other non-standard structures in the personal wireless communications, public safety communications, utility networks, and broadcast network industry that are required to obtain NWSA certification

ANSI/TIA 222 Revision G: STRUCTURAL STANDARD FOR ANTENNA SUPPORTING STRUCTURES AND ANTENNAS

This course uses compliant safety methods from ANSI Z490.1

Evaluation Outline
  • Safety Briefing
  • Explanation of exam rules
  • Simulated Work at Height
    • Assemble a 4-foot antenna
    • Prepare to work at height and climb into position to work
    • Mount a 4-foot antenna to a tower
    • Install jumper connection
    • Perform weather proofing exercise
    • Tie three common knots

 

Require Equipment

 All necessary tools and consumable materials will be provided and must be used for the evaluation. Students are encouraged to utilize their standard Personal Protective Equipment including harness, climbing helmet, fall-protection and work positioning equipment
