COURSE OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES

 

The Standard Fall Protection Safety & Rescue Certification training is a comprehensive program for men and women who need fall protection training, antenna & tower climbing training, or safety and rescue training.

 

We offer an extremely effective balance between classroom instruction, hands-on tower climbing, and practical rescue scenarios.

 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive the Safety One Certification and will be able to:
• Identify and eliminate fall hazards in the workspace
• Apply proper techniques for tower climbing
• Implement and manage rescue equipment and procedures

COURSE DURATION: One Day (8 hours)

CLASS SIZE: Maximum 8 (1 Instructor)

  • Anchorages, Body support, Means of connection, Positioning, Fall arrest, Rescue and personal gear/P.P.E.

Structure Types and Hardware

  • Structure types, Fixed Ladders, and Regulations

Job Briefings

  • Hazards, Equipment inspections, Rescue plan, and Employee duties

Tower Climbing

  • Proper techniques, Industry best practice, and Tips for avoiding injury

Tower Rescue

  • Procedures, Equipment, and Suspension trauma
  • Self-Rescue versus Co-Worker Rescue
AUDIENCE & PREREQUISITES

AUDIENCE

 

This course is intended for men and women who are responsible for performing work at height, and/or supervising, implementing, and monitoring a managed fall protection program.

 

OSHA states that any worker on a walking or working surface that has any unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet or more from a lower level requires fall protection training.

PREREQUISITES FOR THIS COURSE

 

No formal prerequisites for this course.

OSHA

 

This course meets the requirements of OSHA Regulation.

A substantial portion of the Standard Fall Protection Safety & Rescue Certification training covers OSHA certification topics such as:
• OSHA 1910 and 1926 fall protection requirements
• The basic physics and forces in rigging and falls
• Proper personal protective equipment
• Fall protection concepts and specific safety equipment
• Maintaining proper attachment in various situations
• Proper documentation
• Solo and small group rescue deployment options

Classroom Training

Introduction to Standards as They Pertain to Tower Climbing

  • Anchorages: types, ratings, theories and inspections
  • Body support: types, preferences and regulations
  • Means of connection: equipment, techniques, warnings and inspections equipment
  • General: inspections, removal from service and PFAS
  • Fall arrest: lanyards, rope grabs, shock absorbers, self-retracting lanyards, fall clearances
  • Rescue and personal gear/P.P.E.

Structure Types and Hardware

  • Tower types: guyed, self-supported, monopole
  • Fixed Ladders: types and safety systems
  • Inspections prior to climbing
